The Honey Lane team have known Orlagh and Phil for some years now, so when it was time to discuss their own special wedding plans we were over the moon! This couple wanted a gorgeous non-wedding like wedding, and we were happy to help!
We’ve been delighted to watch their family grow from a young in love couple, to a gorgeous young brood with the cutest flower girl and page boy anyone could wish for.
Orlagh and Phil's home in the semi-rural setting of Maraylya provided a stunning backdrop for their wedding. When walking through their plans for the ceremony on the property, it occurred to Honey Lane stylist, Lara, that the entry driveway and front sweeping staircase may be the most dramatic and stunning place to frame the ceremony.
Their home holds a very special and personal place in both Orlagh & Phil’s hearts. The home itself provided a stunning and refined backdrop, while the surrounding bushland was breathtaking in itself. It’s always worth looking at your venue with fresh eyes and be open to new possibilities.
These photos speak for themselves!
When styling the wedding, we want to respect the beauty of the property and its character, and ensure that the end result was romantic and elegant enough to compliment the home. However, we also want to ensure that their day was fuss-free, warm and welcoming – just like the both of them!
Wayfinding is one of those often overlooked elements, however it’s key in keeping guests, relaxed, informed and knowing where to go, and where amenities might be. It also helps the service staff as they spend less time helping wandering guests. Especially when you are turning a home into an event venue and additional amenities like bathrooms, parking and reception tents are down the garden path!
A soft, romantic and paired back floral colour palette showcased an abundance of native flowers, which worked beautifully with the bushland surrounds. The florals were coupled with exposed timbers, with accents of romantic nostalgic turned legs.
The stunning Sperry Tent, gave the perfect balance of a contemporary Hamptons feel with rustic refinement, and set the scene for a wonderful day, leading to a fun filled night for family and friends, even if the day happened to be a sweltering 46 degrees.
We wish Orlagh and Phil all the best in their future together!
