We had the pleasure of working with Mikaela and Gavin, who wanted a modern and vibrant garden party atmosphere for their special day. With fresh citrus tones and a unique serpentine table setup, the Honey Lane team was able to create a wedding reception that was a true celebration of love and friendship in this beautiful location.
Here’s what our lovely couple had to say about their unforgettable garden party wedding:
How did you two love birds meet?
Funnily, despite living 15 minutes away from each other most of our lives, and having lots of mutual friends, we met at a festival outside of Sydney a couple of years after finishing high school.
What made you decide on hiring a wedding stylist and coordinator for your wedding?
We knew that we would have a challenging year in the lead-up to our wedding between our personal lives and work. We wanted to hand over the wedding planning and execution, so we didn’t have the stress associated with the day. It was also important to us that we wouldn’t need to do anything but show up, focus on our guests and enjoy ourselves on the day.
We are glad we….?
Kept our guestlist intimate. It was not easy, but it meant that we could spend quality time with each guest and make the most of our budget.
A little lol - A funny moment you will always remember?
The ducks that were photo-bombing all the photos. They looked beautiful but it was hilarious watching our photographer, Callan, try and scoot them away and they just wanted to be front and centre.
Describe the vibe you wanted to create for your day?
We wanted something that looked beautiful but was relaxed, and lots of mingling with our guests. As we had a small ceremony and were married before our wedding reception day, the feature event was the dinner and we wanted that time to be paced, and enjoyable for us and our guests.
The Venue - how did you know it was the one?
It was close to home – the majority of our guests didn’t have to travel, it had so many site options and the food was **chef’s kiss**. Not to mention that Georgia the venue’s event planner was so easy going and lovely to work with.
Favourite moment from your wedding day?
The first look at the bridal cottage.
Word of Advice - anything you might like to share to soon to be brides and grooms?
Don’t get caught up with any details on the day. If anything goes wrong or plans change, there is probably little you can do to change it anyway and there are people there to look after you. Just immerse yourselves in the happiness of your day.
Your dress is so dreamy, tell is about what inspired you?
I’ve worked in fashion for over 10 years, so I wanted something that would stand the test of time in photos. I chose a dress that was quite simple and made sure that it was tailored to my shape. Good tailoring makes all the difference.
Tells us about your ‘something blue’ – .
My bridesmaids gave me a necklace that had a light blue sapphire stone. It was minimal and dainty which would have gone with any dress I chose. So, it was ‘new’ and ‘blue’. The perfect gift!
