We had the absolute pleasure of working with Ellen & Andrew to bring their very special Australian wedding to their family & friends after travel restrictions made them re-evaluate their plans. Their vibrant wedding with a touch of ‘country glamour’ is a lovely modern take - set in the surrounding wilderness Bungendore has to offer. From a very special arrival to the softly lit marquee this wedding was pure joy! Just like the couple themselves.

We have contacted the lovely couple to answer some of our burning questions as they are just back from an extended Honeymoon! What drew you to the lovely town of Bungendore? 

We chose Bungendore to get married because it is a family property on Andrew’s side. Andrew has many happy memories growing up on the farm with his family and it was kindly offered to us as our wedding venue. It is a beautiful setting perfect for a wedding but we felt it was extra special being a private property that would just be for us.

 Describe the vibe you wanted to create for your day.

We wanted a vibe that was us, casual but with a bit of sparkle. We landed on ‘country glam’ for the overall feel. We wanted to ensure that all our guests had a seamless experience and remembered the little touches at the wedding. We wanted it to feel quite personal and unique; we had one of our best friends marry us which was amazing. We wanted it to feel like a big reunion; we had been overseas and hadn’t seen so many of our guests in years. Good food, good music and lots of love.

Your dress is so dreamy, tell is about what inspired you?

I didn’t really have a plan when looking for a dress, I decided to go in with no expectations and see what I liked while trying them on. I took lots of direction from the lovely Amy at Mrs Fray in Canberra who was so helpful with picking the perfect dress. I put this dress on and didn’t want to get out of it, so I knew it would be perfect.

I loved the simplicity of the skirt, the detail of the bodice and the sleeves. I wanted something that would fit with the day which was a mixture of glam as well as the country farm vibe, and I think this one was perfect.

What made you decide on hiring a wedding stylist and coordinator for your wedding?

When we started planning the wedding we were living overseas, but knew we wanted to get married in Australia so a wedding stylist and planner was a no-brainer considering we were holding it at a private property that would need absolutely everything arranged for us. We also knew we wanted it to be extra special with professional styling touches and run perfectly smoothly, and Honey Lane assured us of this from the first meeting.

Looking back we are so grateful we decided to engage HoneyLane, the amount of work behind the scenes was incredible and we couldn’t have managed it while juggling life and jobs at the same time.

 Tell us a little about your wedding cars. 

We were lucky enough to have access to an original 1966 Land Rover Discovery that had been refurbished over several years by my Dad. He drove the bridesmaids down to the venue in the car which was so special as it had been a passion project he’d worked on for years.

We are glad we made the decision to engage with HoneyLane, the whole team was incredible and we were beyond impressed with how the day went. We are also so blown away by the quality of the photos by Corinna and Dylan, they captured everything so beautifully! We are also glad we decided to postpone from our original date due to the travel restrictions.

Although it was a hard decision, it meant that we could share the day with more family and friends who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to attend. We also were so pleased with our cater, Paddock to Plate and had so much great feedback from all our guests!
