Carly and Ben’s Sydney wedding summed up in two words… ‘what fun!’ As wedding stylists and planners, we always strive to create a magical day that captures the essence of the couple's personalities and sense of fun. With the effervescent Australian born CJ and Yorkshireman Ben at the helm, we knew theirs was going to be something extra special!
Their proposal story was just as enchanting as their wedding day - with the help of their daughters, Ben popped the question in New York's Central Park at Christmas time, followed by cocktails at The Plaza Hotel. How magical, right?
On their wedding day, the breathtaking backdrop of the Harbor View Lawn was just the beginning of their magical wedding adventure. We worked with the couple to create an effortlessly stylish contemporary chic theme with sophisticated cream, blush, and nude tones, elevated with touches of black and rose gold. The gorgeous ceremony location was thoughtfully styled with perfectly positioned florals artfully draped around black metal plinths which created a bold geometric effect. Unsurprisingly, CJ was an absolute vision in a unique strapless dress and bejewelled headband. Just wow!
To keep the guests cool and comfortable, the Honey Lane planning team provided stylish white parasols which also make fabulous photo props! A Messina gelato stand was a cute surprise for a post-ceremony ice cream. In a nod to Ben’s British roots, the guests were then whisked away on a red double-decker London bus to their next location - the stunning heritage wedding venue, Athol Hall. With its breathtaking harbor views, and unique heritage charm, it was the perfect reception venue to continue the celebrations.
CJ and Ben’s wedding was peppered with thoughtful touches, making it deeply personal. We absolutely loved the original idea of a charity token stand instead of guest favors, where guests could "spend" their favor towards a choice of three charities. On a styling front, the Honey Lane design team outdid themselves bringing the contemporary chic brief to life. The enchanting reception hall was transformed with artful aerial floral installations and perfectly styled tablescapes. CJ dazzled again with a cute cocktail dress change to signal an evening of good food, wine, and fun!
