A Dreamy Tuscan-Inspired Wedding: James Tedesco and Maria’s Magical Day at Redleaf, Wollombi

When Rugby League golden boy James Tedesco and his glamorous fiancée Maria approached Honey Lane to plan and style their January 2023 wedding, we knew it was going to be a magical (and very big) affair!

The stylish couple chose Redleaf at Wollombi, a Tuscan-inspired country property in the Hunter Valley, as the venue for their big day. As experts in Hunter Valley Weddings, Honey Lane had the intimate knowledge of Redleaf to ensure that James and Maria's big day ran seamlessly, and we were beyond excited to bring our artistry and passion for detail to their Redleaf wedding.

Maria and James worked with the Honey Lane wedding stylists to craft a "modern boheme" theme as the inspiration for their day. Our vision was to create a romantic, stylish, and luxurious atmosphere that would be unforgettable for our couple and guests. Redleaf country retreat was the perfect canvas for this vision, with its relaxed "Italian villa" feel and sprawling 100 acres of country charm. Over the last 7 years, Honey Lane has planned and styled countless weddings at Redleaf, Wollombi, and we know the ins and outs of this unique wedding venue.

With over 250 guests, this wedding was a “major wedding” production. The Honey Lane team took it all in our stride and took time to consider all the additional logistics that would be involved with basically double the guests of a normal wedding! This included additional marquees, 10 buses in and out for guests, extra kitchen equipment, security, generators…we had it all covered.

The colour palette for Maria and James' wedding was carefully chosen to complement the natural beauty of Redleaf's manicured gardens. Warm delicate tones of white, cream, peach, and the lightest rose were used, creating a soft and romantic feel. The design team at Honey Lane expertly combined raw, noble materials such as sandstone and ceramic accents with the softness of linen, romantic florals, and hints of luxury with cut crystal glassware. Every detail was carefully thought out to create a one-of-a-kind and enchanting aesthetic that would captivate the senses.

As the day unfolded, it was clear that the love, admiration, and joy of the occasion was felt by everyone. The guests, including many rugby league favorites, brought their A-game to the party, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere. Maria looked absolutely stunning in a modern corset dress that perfectly embodied the modern romantic theme of the wedding. Honey Lane had taken care of all the behind-the-scenes pre-work, ensuring that the day ran seamlessly, and allowing the couple to be fully present in the moment along with their guests.

The wedding party continued long into the warm summer's night, with a magical fairy light canopy illuminating the roof of the marquee, creating just the right amount of subtle lighting for an intimate party atmosphere.
