South Coast Wedding Venues
With the current travel restrictions in place, we decided as a team to explore a little bit more of what our beautiful country has to offer for our gorgeous New South Wales wedding couples. So, we packed our bags and started our very first mini weeknight getaway to the shiny South Coast and Southern Highlands. And let’s just say, we were not disappointed!
The South Coast of New South Wales offers a huge range of wedding venues from cliff top luxury waterfront resorts, laid back country wineries and native bushland hideaways. And the Southern Highlands – well that just has a special charm of its own. Not only do each of the properties provide incredible wedding spaces but a level of quality and comfortable accommodation – it’s a win win! We wish we could have visited every venue, but here is what we were able to get into two days!
Kalinya Estate
First Stop – Kalinya Estate. Wow – what a unique venue. Featuring a stunning, heritage listed homestead, plus an additional 8 bedroom lodge, Kalinya estate is set on 5 acres of manicured gardens 2.5 hours south west of Sydney. This property is full of surprises. If you are looking for a venue that will take your guests on an adventure, then this is the place for you!
5 Favorite things about Kalinya Estate:
The heritage homestead is a beautiful example of an authentic country property with souring ceilings, stunning kitchen and gran bedrooms. It sleeps a total of 21 guests and with it’s large proportions you will all be completely comfortable.
The gardens are beautifully manicured – but they also feature a 17m pool, hot tub, tennis court, basketball court and garden games. Your guests will never be board with such a brilliant range of outdoor activities!
The property features an outdoor dining area that literally took our breaths away. Both the Homestead AND the lodge feature alfresco dining areas complete with wood fire pizza ovens. BBQs, firepits and custom seating. Absolutely perfect for night before celebrations or a brunch the next morning. So beautifully designed, we fell in love with these areas immediately!
The Barn is something that must be seen to be believed. The owners of the property have done such a spectacular job in creating spaces in the Barn that are the dream of most. Think – full size squash court, gym, piano bar…and…..
A cinema! Yes, you read right. The bard features a beautifully design cinema! We are not speaking of a small home cinema, we are referring to a proper, full cinema which would be perfect for kids, or watching “Bridesmaids” the night before your wedding!
The Woods Farm
Located in the Jervis bay area, The Woods Farm is an amazing luxury country farm venue perfect for a South Coast garden wedding, rustic wedding, vintage wedding, country wedding or a festival style wedding. With all your guests staying onsite, you will be able to create a wedding journey from the moment they arrive. It most definitely will be a wedding experience that you and your guests will not be forgetting for a while!
5 Favorite things about The Woods Farm:
It’s rare to find a venue that can accommodate all your wedding guests. Having all your guests stay on site ensures you really do have a “Wedding festival!” that runs from the night before until the morning after. We love the Glamping site too!
We adore all the unique and quirky locations for elements of the day, this really ensures that you take your guests on a journey. From the chill out pool and pergola area, pizza night under the stars in the veggie garden to the stunning Wedshed for the wedding reception. At every turn is a new experience.
We fell in love with the ceremony location, a gorgeous rustic arch way aisle, leads the path to this perfect little chapel that aligns perfectly with the vibe at The Woods Farm.
It’s great to have a venue that offers many styling items, this will eliminate any additional costs for furniture.
If you are looking a luxury, rustic vibe then Woods Farm is perfect, we feel that it’s great to have a venue that already has a style of its own.
Worrowing
Worrowing is a country retreat dream set on a huge 250 acres – that just so happens to be located just 4 minutes from the beach – meaning you get the best of both worlds! The property has been spectacularly transformed by the owners with 12 different accommodation options on site, sleeping up to 53 guests! Although in-keeping with it’s surrounds, it’s certainly as modern and contemporary elements which are sure to satisfy the most discerning of guests.

Sleeping up to 53 guests, the accommodation options are varied so your guests are sure to find something to suit their numbers and budget. From homesteads, to villas to boatsheds on the lake…and glamping tents!! We are already planning our stay here!
The Hereford Shed is a fabulous example of how the property has maintained some of is rustic charm whilst still being a contemporary venue. The purpose built venue has polished concrete floors, yet the timber beams are from the original sheering shed. The space is blank canvas enough to ring in your stylist and create the wedding of your dreams, whilst still having character and charm.
No matter what you are envisioning as your ceremony backdrop, this venue will be able to deliver! There are over 12 locations to choose from across the property. The beautiful lake is stunning as are the numerous bushland settings. And the best part? There is a super cute hay shed on site as a wet weather back up so you don’t have to worry about bad weather!
The venue is provided as a black canvas – so you really do get to create something of your own. The venue does not enforce any particular preferred suppliers so you are free to choose your own planner, stylist, caterer etc!
It may seem like a small thing, but it is well worth pointing out that the venue provides a full catering kitchen/area as well as built amenities. Having both of these on site as a permanent structure will save you thousands when it comes to your wedding budget!
Merribee
Located in Numbaa along NSW South Coast, Merribee is an amazing find for any couple looking for a magical wedding venue that is set within acres of beautifully manicured gardens. If you are looking for a rustic, garden vibe then look no further, Merribee offers this to you and more. The gardens are endless with beautiful things to discover at every turn.
5 Favorite things about Merribee:
The Secret Garden. Hidden way within the grounds this hidden location is the perfect an intimate ceremony.
Merribee definitely has some of the most stunning gardens, that are well cared for all year round and make great opportunities for breathtaking photographs.
We loved the fact that there were many locations for different elements of the day creating a magical journey for couples and their guests.
Merribee is an ideal venue for intimate weddings but also has perfect lawns that can accommodate a larger marquee wedding.
The Silo, this has been converted into romantic accommodation for the bride and groom and offers stunning 360-degree views of the area.
Headlands Austinmer Beach
The stunning oceanfront venue is located on the Headlands of Austinmer Beach (Wollongong). The venue boasts breathtaking panoramic ocean views and elegant décor providing the right ambience to your next wedding or event. The upstairs event space includes a private bar, state-of-the-art facilities and space for guest numbers as little as 50 and as large as 260. With five-star food service and surrounding outdoor ceremony locations in walking distance, Headlands Austinmer Beach will not disappoint.

Not only does the view look incredible but the overall look, feeling and vibe of the room is a stylists’ dream. With warm neutral tones, the space is the perfect blank canvas for your dream wedding theme.
The room itself is situated upstairs with its own private dining space, bar and outdoor balcony. A relaxed and intimate space to enjoy with your wedding guests.
You have the option to decide on your very own floorplan. Whether you like round tables or long – the choice is yours.
On top of the event day itself, Headlands offers 52 luxurious self-contained service apartments conveniently located on-site for a place to get ready or stay the night.
With a dedication to creating an exquisite dining experience using fresh, seasonal produce, the food at Headland’s is unforgettable.

Now I know we mentioned their marquees earlier, but The Verve needs a shout out of its own. Think all black clear roof marquee – with the perfect amount of edge!
