When we met Steph & Izzy we knew they truly completed each other, and couldn’t wait to get started on their wedding styling.
Inspired by their venue, Palm House we chose natural contemporary finishes to touch on the surrounding gardenscape, our desire was to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere, a sense of minimalistic elegance and occasion!
We have contacted the lovely couple to answer some of our questions and share a little more of their life’s journey. If you are getting married, looking for inspiration on how to go about planning a private estate wedding or simply want to understand what it’s like from the couple’s perspective. Have a read below!
How did you two love birds meet?
We actually met all the way back in our first year of high school! We were fast friends at school, ending up in the same friendship group, and remaining close throughout all of high school. We spent a lot of time together after graduation and during the first semester of uni, and slowly started developing feelings for each other - which luckily turned out to be mutual!
We feel really lucky to have ended up together, because we are essentially each other’s best friend - we have seen each other at our best and worst moments, and there’s nothing that we don’t know about each other at this point! We were so happy to finally be able to celebrate our relationship and our commitment to each other by getting married and sharing the day with all of our closest friends and family.
Describe the vibe you wanted to create for your day.
We always knew that we wanted our wedding to feel authentic to us as a couple, and that remained our key objective throughout the whole planning process. The main goal was for everyone to have a great time, and enjoy celebrating our special day with us, and for us to have a relaxed time on the day as well! We knew we wanted a modern, more understated aesthetic, and we had both always really loved a garden/botanic vibe, so it didn’t take us long to decide on Palm House and Botanic House as our venues. We knew the overall feeling/tone that we wanted for the day, but we had no idea how to make it happen, which is when we reached out to Honey Lane for help. Alannah and the team managed to capture our vision so perfectly, and we were totally blown away by the end result - everything turned out even better than we could have imagined!
Favourite moment from your wedding day.
It’s so hard to pick just one! The ceremony will always be an unforgettable memory for both of us - between the beautiful styling of Palm House, the overwhelming emotion of it all and sharing such a special and intimate moment with all of our friends and family, it’s definitely up there in terms of best moments from the whole day! For me (Steph), watching Izzy walk down the aisle towards me was definitely not just a highlight of the day, but of my whole life so far - a moment that I’ll never forget.
Word of Advice - Anything you might like to share to soon to be brides and grooms?
Make sure you take time to enjoy the day, because it will all go by so quickly! Try not to get hung up on things that don’t go perfectly or exactly as you’d planned, because they will be the moments that you’ll laugh about afterwards. Don’t feel pressured to include things in your wedding just because of tradition or because other people tell you to - it’s your day and it should feel true to you, individually, and as a couple. Most importantly, have fun!
