Wedding Trends You’ll See Everywhere This Spring

September officially marks the beginning of another wedding season and the start of our favourite time of year – Spring.

As we move into the warmer weather, let’s take a look at what is going to be big for weddings in the coming months.

Goodbye greenery

OK, so it’s not a complete goodbye to greenery but this Spring we’re definitely going to see couples opting for non-traditional floral elements for both their ceremony and reception.

Florist Jessica Jerome from Sweet Pea and Honey Bee says,

‘For spring weddings this season among my clients I am seeing the popularity of dried florals emerge. In particular a mix of dried florals in gorgeous latte, tan and muddy brown tones combined with fresh florals in rust, gold and apricot. Colour is also back in a big way with many clients moving away from whites and pale pastels and option for a brighter palette.’

Keep it simple

While Winter weddings require both the couple and their guests to layer up against the cold, Spring allows brides to pair things back and this year more than ever, we’re seeing a shift towards sleek, minimalist gowns.

Think simple silhouettes, beautiful backs and delicate details. The complete opposite to the meringue dresses of yesteryear!

Caped crusader

It’s true that not all superheroes wear capes but when it comes to your wedding day, why not make the ultimate statement?! In keeping with the move towards clean, simple lines, wedding gowns with capes are providing a big hit this Spring, reflecting the trend set by both Solange and Serena Williams on their respective wedding days.

Underneath the Neon Sign

I’m going to say there is never a moment when a neon sign isn’t appropriate. Going for a cool, contemporary feel for you wedding? A neon sign will fit right in with your styling. Prefer a vintage-inspired, refined rustic kind of affair? Take a vintage couch, some first edition hardbacks and a personalised neon sign overhead and a you’ve got a truly memorable photo op for your guests.

Neons have been popular for a few years now but as we move into the warmer weather we’ll see them shining through (pun intended!) more than ever.

What could be cooler than a Spring time cocktail hour, a margarita or two, a wedding neon customised specially for the newlyweds and some chilled acoustic tunes in the background? The answer? Nothing!

Let’s take this outside

While the chilly winter weather is ideal for an indoor wedding with rich, hearty food, if you’re anything like me, by the time Spring rolls round, you’re ready to spend as much time outdoors as you can get.

So if you’re planning a Spring wedding, why not think about interactive outdoor food stations for your guests?

Most venues will have some form of outdoor space that is available as part of your wedding package so if the space affords, I say make the most if it!

Food stations such as oyster bars, grazing stations, gelato carts or cheese tables add an element of ‘theatre’ for even the most well-worn of wedding guest and are a great ice breaker for Susan from Accounts who doesn’t know anyone at the wedding and couldn’t find a plus one.

There you have it, our predictions for wedding trends you’ll see everywhere this coming season.

So this Spring, dust off those strappy heels, break out the bubbly and enjoy the sunshine whether you’re a wedding guest or one half of the lucky couple.
