Going out with a bang

You could say the last year has proven to be somewhat difficult for a lot of us. As Sydney based wedding planners and stylists, we found ourselves in one of the most affected industries during this pandemic but held onto hope ... always! If this year has taught us anything it was that we absolutely love what we do and with some unusual downtime this silly season we couldn’t help but get back on-site one more time and put on a feast for you!

We bring to you The Ultimate Long Lunch Giveaway!

Now you may have already seen some of these gorgeous images floating around on our Instagram page. I am here to show you how all of this magic came together.

First things first: The Venue (aka The Charleston)

We knew exactly what we wanted when we decided to put on this lunch. And after a quick team brainstorm, we put together a small list of key words to work towards.

PUNCHY | VIBRANT | ECCENTRIC

With all of that in mind, the search officially began, and we feel so lucky that we found The Charleston. Nestled in the heart of Glebe, The Charleston is an ode to the beautiful colours and flavours of South Carolina. The interior reflects modern Southern-living and is reminiscent of Charleston’s historic waterfront and pastel-coloured homes.

The food was one thing but wait until you see these walls. It is safe to say I have fallen back in love with the colour PINK! The space was so refreshing to work in and provided so much personality to the overall look – we just knew that it was perfect from the get-go!

So, we met up with the owner Chris who initially must have thought we were crazy (it was those damn walls … I was obsessed!) Albeit, past our obsession with the walls and mutual love for this idea, he was onboard!

Now it was onto the florals; brought to you by Maddy from Ellébore

With those three words above in mind, it was pretty obvious I was looking for something a little different than usual. Think bold, mass and chunky! And I knew just the girl. We have been working with the brains behind Ellébore for a little while now and her work continues to amaze and inspire us. She brought such wonderful ideas to the look and it is safe to say we couldn’t have done it without her!

Styling (LET’S DO IT!)

The team and I discussed a number of ways we wanted to bring this look to life. Firstly, it was extremely important that we played with the interior of the venue as much as we could without it feeling too much! Along with the pink, The Charleston focused on a few other key colours such as sage green, sky blue and mustard yellow. Each element brought to the space was a hero piece in my eyes. You may say OTT, I say why not? That’s exactly what we wanted to do, and it worked!

We worked with linen from Simmons Linen Hire, napkins, cushions and cutlery from Simply Seated, stationery and signage from Bridge and Co, dining stools from Harry The Hirer, Cookies from Quincy Lane, Candles from House of Ivory (swoon!), the most amazing and delicious cake must I add from Copper Fork Cakes and a fabulous neon from Ooh La Neon

IT WAS OFFICIALLY TIME TO SHARE THIS GIVEAWAY WITH EVERYONE!

Ok so we were ready to go! Now we just need 8 amazing people to come and enjoy. And that we found!

Over on our social media we and everyone involved announced the giveaway lunch that included a cocktail on arrival, banquet for 8ppl and bottomless bubbles and beer provided with exclusive access to the venue by the one and only The Charleston. It went absolutely crazy!

After a tremendous 936 entries we used a random number draw to generate the winner between numbers 1 and 936. Lo and behold we had a winner (drum roll please) … number 359 – Nat Alder!

IT WAS OFFCIALLY GAME DAY!

Monday 30th November crept around the corner and we were ready to get this show on the road. Ok ready is an understatement … we were ecstatic!

The entire Honey Lane team, along with Maddy from ElléboreEliza from Copper Fork Cakes,  Mitch in the Mountains – with his soulful tunes, Dan the cameraman expert from Killa Kreative and the delightful team at  The Charleston were ready to bump in!

The gorgeous Nat and her 7 girlfriends arrived around lunchtime with a hungry appetite and were ready to enjoy!

Dan from Killa Kreative captured some amazing images and clips throughout the day and we cannot wait to show you all the behind the scenes. It was quite epic to say the least!
