Old Hollywood is a phrase that doesn’t get thrown around all that much anymore so you can only imagine how excited I was to explore this more when I sat down with the incredible Rebecca and Ben for their initial style consultation as a part of our Full Wedding Styling service.
Rebecca, a former ballerina was always drawn to a timeless romance with an Old Hollywood twist. She wanted the space to shine with unique candles and dark bold colours of plum, navy blue, black and a classic gold accent. In Bec’s words Ben is very old fashioned and loved the idea of a sophisticated black-tie event without it feeling to clean cut and stuffy.
There is so much we wanted to share with you about this wedding and Rebecca and Ben have done so beautifully. Take a look at what they had to say below...
The Venue - How did you know it was the one?
We actually looked at quite a few venues before finding Beta Bar. At that stage we only knew 2 things; we wanted a black-tie event and great food was our deal breaker. When we arrived for our viewing of Beta Bar, we loved how the entrance was quite inconspicuous and walking up the stairs to Level 1 mimicked that of a NYC stairwell. Entering The Gallery at Beta Bar was very memorable! The cocktail lounge area was stunning and the large, detailed arch doorways into the main area were beautiful but what really got me were the super high ceilings and the ‘industrial meets chic’ style. Both Ben and I, within seconds of entering the room, whispered to each other ‘this is it’. We really wanted to make the venue our own and without the typical function style look and this venue was far from that. What was an absolute bonus and why we viewed this room in the first place was that the catering was done by Alpha restaurant downstairs, so we knew the food (and wine) would be amazing – and it was!
Fave Details on the day - Anything from getting ready, ceremony, speeches, dessert, dancing etc.
Of course, the entire day was amazing, and we cannot fault it! There were three things in particular that were important to us; setting the ‘vibe’ of our night from the very beginning, that everyone had a great time and music. Honey Lane played such an important role in setting the tone and vibe for our guests and what they could expect throughout the night. The champagne saucers, gold cutlery and the candles really set our mood and were our favourite details in the room.
There is something about drinking bubbles from an old-fashioned champagne glass! It provided romance, class and something fun!
