Our Christmas Styling Tips

Melbourne Cup is done and dusted which in our calendar means… next stop Christmas!

You can’t move for all the Christmas décor and accessories in stores at the moment but how do you ‘do’ Christmas without your styling looking like a Bridget Jones family gathering?

Take a seat, grab a glass of eggnog (or wine!) and we’ll share some of our tips to spare you the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’!

Channel your inner Scandi

Your table doesn’t have to be overflowing will styling elements in order to make a big statement this Christmas. Cut the clutter and take a leaf out of the Scandinavian’s book by keeping your colour palette neutral with fresh whites, oatmeals and greys. Introduce texture with linen napkins or brushed finish cutlery and you can create depth without the need for colour. For a pop of metallic, add taper candle holders or delicate tealights and you’ve got the perfect paired-back celebration!

Remaking a Classic

If you’re a traditionalist at heart and want to stick to the red and green colour palette, there are simple ways to elevate your styling for a more sophisticated setting.

Sage green is an ‘on trend’ way to introduce green tones to your table and could take the form of matte plates or through beautiful guest placecards.

Sprigs of red berries can add a pop of colour, either in vases or to dress napkins or plates and for the ultimate statement, add proteas or Christmas Bush to a garland running the length of your table and you’re sure to leave guests with that lasting ‘wow’ factor!

Christmas in the sunshine

Sure, we don’t have the cold or the snow, but that doesn’t mean we can’t put a Southern Hemisphere stamp on Christmas styling.

Embrace the beautiful weather by keeping your styling light and airy and bringing the outdoors in with timber tones and touches of greenery.

Native flowers such as bottlebrush and Christmas Bush can be put into bud vases and scattered down your dining table for a simple and vibrant pop of red and green.

Eucalyptus leaves are a gorgeous way to dress up napkins and silver dollar eucalyptus leaves are ideal for creating an organic, unstructured effect either in a wreath or in a table garland.
