Organic Rustic: Rebecca & Michael 15/04/17

From the moment we spoke to Rebecca over Skype we fell in love with her Irish accent and the story of how her and Michael (Mich) met. Rebecca was backpacking and living in Manly where she met Mich outside a pub and from that moment, they were inseparable!

As Rebecca is Irish, she has a love affair with green! Rebecca loves Australian native flowers and greenery and thought it reflected Mich’s background, being an Aussie, perfectly. To compliment the natives, Rebecca and Mich also wanted to introduce the textures, shapes and shades of tropical greenery, which created an ultra organic and unique brief for Merrin from Mable and Elsi, who delivered perfection with their wedding florals.

Rebecca and Mich wanted to do things a little differently on their wedding day, such as having their ‘first look’ before their ceremony and arriving at their ceremony together to walk up the aisle, hand in hand.

After their relaxed and love filled ceremony at Bower Street Reserve, the guests headed down to manly for their evening reception at Beachside Dojo. The guests enjoyed drinks on arrival as they waited for Rebecca and Mich to make their grand entrance as husband and wife.

We styled their 2x long banquet style guest tables and bridal table with greenery garlands down the centre. The greenery used throughout the design was a mix of Rebecca’s picks: native, tropical and succulents, creating a dynamic and textural look. Dotted on either side of the garland were clusters of: brass candle votives, glass jar candles, a share menu (designed by us) and bud vases featuring Rebecca’s favourite native flowers. Each guest had one of our jute place mats, navy napkin along with a simple, white name tag and sprig of greenery on their place setting to highlight their darker, autumn colour palette and love of greenery.

After a delicious dinner, Rebecca and Mich’s guests enjoyed their interactive guestbook, where guests were asked to take polaroid photos throughout the night to either stick in their custom guestbook with a message or to place in the timber box provided for the couple to look through on their first wedding anniversary. They finished off the night dancing and drinking with their guests under the festoon canopy on Dojo’s balcony.
