Not Just Another Garden Wedding: Kelly & Gareth 05/11/16

From the moment we met Kelly and Gareth we felt the warmth of their personalities and the love that they had for one another. They had an easygoing attitude and wanted their wedding to be unique and above all, suit them as a couple.

They picked their ceremony location to be Elkington Park in Balmain between two Morton bay fig trees that acted as an organic arch. Although they weren’t after a traditional wedding arch, they did want something to stand in front of during their ceremony. After much thought and discussion they fell in love with the idea of building their own honeycomb backdrop, on which their florist adorned with beautiful florals.

Kelly felt inspired by the darker, jewel tone floral palette and luscious greenery but she wanted to mix it with some colourful pops of spring, featuring bright pinks and peaches. These beautiful floral tones were represented throughout their wedding and the different tones of greenery, naturally lined their wedding aisle.

From the moments guests arrived, they were welcomed with their chalkboard signage and celebratory drinks station, with chilled mini bottles of champagne, a variety of beers and fruity water. This is what kicked off the relaxed vibe, along with the live acoustic music by Andy Mammers. When it was time to begin, their comedic celebrant Gary Reilly got everyone engaged and laughing along with Kelly and Gareth for their relaxed, garden ceremony.

After the ceremony the couple headed off with their bridal party to Centennial park to take their bridal portraits but we love that they went back to the platform at Central Railway station, where they met for the first time years ago.

Guests then made their way to the cocktail style, rooftop reception, where they were greeted by a spread of cheese boards, chilled music and their drink of choice. As the night continued on the guests enjoyed an array of delicious canapés, mingling, taking photos in their photo booth, speeches, coconut wedding cake and a game of “how well do you know them”.
