Refined Rustic Meets Raw Industrial: Luke & Luisa 25/06/16

From the moment Luke and Lui filled out their wedding brief for us, we knew they were a hilarious and very relaxed couple. The most important factors to them were: great food & alcohol, that everything looked stylish and most importantly all their guests had an amazing time! Luisa was clear on her industrial wedding vision right from the start, so they booked The Cell Block Theatre as their venue.

It's sandstone walls and timber floors were the picturesque “blank canvas” for an industrial, winter wedding. Raw, dark timber tones were highly visible throughout their wedding in all the furniture, bar and stage.

Luisa knew she didn’t want any florals featured in her wedding, except for her bouquet and on their wishing well table. Dark greenery and succulents were the main “floral” feature throughout this wedding. Jess, from Sweet Pea and Honey Bee, lined 2m’s of greenery along and hanging down from the stage to create their unique version of a wedding arch, which we lined with a cluster of glass candles on either side.

Lighting was another important aspect of their wedding, so we organised a canopy of festoon lighting to be hung in the ceiling of the venue, up-lighting along the inside walls and in the courtyards tree. Not to mention the 200 candle lit, glass jars we scattered around the venue; inside and out.

We were not only wedding stylists but on the day coordinators for Luke and Lui, which allowed us to grow very close with this gorgeous couple over our daily emails and various meetings. We have to mention the food tasting meeting with their awesome caterer, Col from Jah Bar, was an absolute highlight- yum, talk about work perks!

After getting to know the couple so well, it was so exciting to know we didn’t have to leave the wedding after we set it all up, we actually got to stay; to meet the guests, have a toast with the happy couple, watch their first dance and eat the delicious food! We can now say with confidence that Luke and Lui ticked all the boxes; everyone enjoyed themselves from the endless amount of food and alcohol, all the way to the dance floor!

If you haven't worked it out already, Luke and Lui are not your traditional bride and groom! They decided to take all their couple shots together during the day so they could be married that evening and start the party with their friends straight away! Their photographer Liz Ham, captured incredible photos throughout the entire day/evening and she has been kind enough to share some with us, we suggest you scroll down to see them! One of our favourite is of Luke and Lui sitting at the bus stop where they first met as teenagers..yep, you guessed it, they're high school lovers!
