Delicate, Blush and a Whole lot of Love

Back in January 2021 we had the absolute pleasure in styling Alyssha and Matt’s
Southern Highland’s wedding at Bendooley Estate.

When I first met with Alyssha and Matt we were right at the beginning of our infamous lockdown in 2020. Jumping off the zoom call I couldn’t wipe the grin off of my face. I could feel their excitement and warmth right through my computer screen and it was these exact moments that encouraged and motivated myself and the team to stay positive, because what was on the other side would be nothing short of amazing. And that it was!

One of my final questions I love to ask my couples as we conclude our styling consultation is ‘what is the most important piece to your wedding day puzzle’. Let it be the food, entertainment, flowers, signage etc. Alyssha and Matt mentioned that that they wanted to create space where no single person was not up on the dance floor by the end of the night (… oh and the espresso martinis too!)

With all of that in mind, the couple did have a very clear and distinct styling direction that they wanted to embark on. We chatted about soft linen elements, a neon sign, blush florals with dried palms and a hint of black within the mix.

There were three significant planning suppliers that were a very important asset to their wedding styling and that was Moira Hughes Couture who designed and produced Alyssha’s extraordinary wedding gown, Lucie Wedding Photographer who has an inspiring eye for photography, capturing every delicate and romantic detail of Alyssha and Matt’s wedding day and of course Bendooley Estate the wedding venue creating an atmosphere of utmost elegance.

We have kindly asked for Alyssha and Matt to share some of their own memories from their wedding day and anything that they would like to pass onto future brides and grooms. Keep reading to find out more!

What was your inspiration around your wedding dress?

I wanted something that I knew I would feel comfortable in. I loved anything with soft tulle and a flowy long train at the back. When I went into Moira Hughes, my dress was on a mannequin and I instantly knew that it was what I was looking for!!

What is some advice you would pass onto your friends and family?

To get help!! Having Alannah and Honey Lane working alongside with Maddy from Ellebore for my florals. I did not have to remember one thing on the day of our wedding and did not worry once about any styling or floral needs! It was all done, and I could just enjoy the morning with my friends and family!!

What is something that you are glad you did?

Two things! Firstly, was having Honey Lane as my stylist, it was a dream come true and exactly what I envisioned! I took my Pinterest board with me and everything feel into place! Secondly was having a live band! My husband and I absolutely love live music and classic songs. It really made everyone’s night to dance and sing to along!

A favourite memory from the day you will have forever?

During the middle of the reception our photographer Lucie took us out for some photos, we climbed over some fencing and were standing in a muddy paddock. My husband and I just looked at each other and both said we can’t believe it’s happened.

“After planning our wedding during the pandemic, we held our excitement as we both felt deep down it would be postponed or would be not what we had hoped for. We were so fortunate it was what we hoped for and are incredible grateful of everyone who supported us.

If you are looking to create your perfect wedding, Honey Lane can help bring it to life with careful advice, direction and experience. As Sydney wedding planners and stylists, we are on hand to help.
